    The Halymenia Maculata macroalgae or often referred to as Leafy Sphere Ogo is a very popular algae for the marine aquarium as it looks just beautifully in a Reef Display Tank.
    The beautiful more stiff like blades will vary in a colouration between purple over light red to deep red (most often) depending on what light is provided.

    This macro algae will arrive unattached. If you prefer it already attached to a zoa cone please add the amount of cones you need HERE.

    Light
    The Halymenia Maculata macroalgae prefers a place with less light and it will turn more greyish when gets too much light. 

    Palatable
    Larger herbivore fishes like tangs will often eat this Halymenia algae species, but smaller fishes don't show much interest in it.  

    If you have larger herbivore fishes we recommend to keep this marine algae in a safe place until you like to offer it as additional food to your fishes.

    Attaching
    As the Halymenia maculata macroalgae won't attach itself it can be easily glued to rock where you like to have it 
    ( we use thick cyanoacrylate super glue ).

    Trimming
    When trimming of this live algae is necessary we recommend to cut it instead of breaking it off, as it won't damage the algae too much.

    Treatment
    Like for most marine macroalgae a higher level of Nitrate and Phosphate, in addition to the supplement of Iron, Magnesium and Trace elements will improve the growth of this live algae.

    If the macroalgae is not growing as expected a special formulated fertiliser for the marine aquarium can help to improve the growth of the macroalgae. Please find a selection of supplements for the marine aquarium HERE

    This marine macro algae species prefers medium to strong water flow.

    Our macroalgae are from fish free macro algae tanks, although we use sometimes pictures for demonstration purposes only which will include fishes, seahorses and or corals. 
    We do our best to quarantine, treat and remove any unwanted hitchhikers, parasites etc from our macro algae but we can not guarantee that the algae are completely free of anything unwanted, not limited to Copepods, Rotifers etc. This is simply because that sometimes eggs, spores, etc can remain viable but not visible and hitchhikers can still stay hidden, especially in dense algae structures, despite our strict quarantine efforts. 

    All macro algae will be thoroughly dipped in a professional solution to deactivate hitchhikers as good as possible before posting. If you don't want this, please send us a message together with your order.

    We highly recommend nonetheless that you properly quarantine anything new before adding it to your marine tank.
