Welcome to the beautiful world of marine macroalgae for the Display Tank & Refugium
Your 1st choice for Sustainable Grown Macroalgae Species in the UK since 2014

Find rare macroalgae species you might not have seen before, as they are often very hard to find and all the classic macroalgae species like Chaetomorpha and Caulerpa for best prices.

We have collected over the last 14 years many different macroalgae species and really fell in love with the different beautiful marine algae species, which offer stunning colours and a amazing natural look, providing hiding spaces for fishes and critters or copepods, and providing a natural healthy food source for herbivore fishes but besides of that... they will help to lower nitrate and phosphate levels in the marine aquarium as with their growth they will remove those unwanted nutrients from the tank, creating a more clean water environment for happier fishes and corals.

All the macroalgae we offer for sale within the UK & EU are from dedicated macroalgae tanks which are fish & copper free for disease-free and clean macroalgae.
This said, they might come with hitchhikers not limited to Copepods and Rotifers, as those beneficial critters love the protected environment of our planted marine tanks.

If you are interested in some facts about marine macroalgae...

Macroalgae are commonly just called Seaweed but do not have like plants for the freshwater aquarium roots and are therfore not classified as plants. Although a lot of live algae species are edible we sell our macro algae just for the use in the marine aquarium, so please don't be tempted by the tasteful pictures, please.

Macroalgae species are divided into three main algae groups which are the red, green and brown macroalgae.

The most common and widely available macroalgae species are the green macroalgae. Especially the different varieties of Chaetomorpha & Caulerpa are easily available, as they grow often very fast and are widely used to reduce effectively nitrate and phosphate concentrations in the marine aquarium water, to help suppressing unwanted  nuisance microalgae.

The second biggest group are the red macroalgae species, which often grow much slower than the green macroalgae species, but they are the best choice of macroalgae species to place in a reef display tank where they will add beautiful colours and a great natural look. And in our opinion some macroalgae species are so beautiful that they can easily compete with much harder to keep coral species, like some hard corals.

The third largest macroalgae group are the brown macroalgae species, which are very rare to get, as they are not very often used, and more often seen as unwanted macroalgae in the marine aquarium.

In addition to a more natural look of the marine aquarium, they will add all the benefits of marine macroalgae, which you can rad more about in our Facts & FAQ part here

We hope you enjoy our beautiful marine macroalgae collection and feel free to contact us whenever you have a question
