Codium Marine Macro Algae

The Codium marine macro algae is very flexible regards the light. It will do best so in medium strong light.

For fishes most interesting is the young filaments of this macro algae. The main structure of it seems just very rarely eaten.

It won't attach itself, so you can just let it flow around or superglue it to a piece of rock.

Light green and very soft parts of it should be removed as they are decomposing.

Like for most marine macro algae a higher level of Nitrate and Phosphate, in addition to the supplement of Iron, Magnesium and Trace elements will improve the growth of this algae.

Please note
Our macro algae are from fish free macro algae tanks, although we use sometimes pictures for demonstration purposes only which will include fishes, seahorses and or corals.
We do our best to quarantine, treat and remove any unwanted hitchhikers, parasites etc from our macro algae but we can not guarantee that the algae are completely free of anything unwanted, not limited to Copepods, Rotifers etc. This is simply because that sometimes eggs, spores, etc can remain viable but not visible and hitchhikers can still stay hidden, especially in dense algae structures, despite our strict quarantine efforts.

All macro algae will be thoroughly dipped in a professional solution to deactivate hitchhikers as good as possible before posting. If you don't want this, please send us a message together with your order.

We highly recommend nonetheless that you properly quarantine anything new before adding it to your marine tank.

We aim to offer you the healthiest and best quality macro algae on the market, therefore, all of our macro algae comes with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

Hi just want to know does any of your algae survive around 19 degrees Celsius setting up tank for pot belly seahorses and do you post to ireland thanks a million .

We recently had another customer and I believe he was going to keep a temperature of around 21C.

As lower the temperature you are aiming for as harder it is for macroalgae and often as slower they will grow, as most of them thrive best in temperatures between 24-26C.

The best results from the feedback we have received are more slow growing algae species like

Cryptonemia Crenulata

or Codium

All are more hardie species, but not nearly as fast growing as a lot of Caulerpa species, therefore there is no risk at all of them going sexual.

We have a new red bubble algae as well, but no experiences with lower temperatures yet.

Of course we deliver as well to Ireland.

You can find our EU delivery informations here:

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

questions Anthony Heaver on 10/01/2018

I received the Codium macro algae from you, Thank you. It has been in my tank for a day now and I noticed that my yellow tang started to nip on it. But as he is still small it seems he doesn't get anything. I was wondering if this algae is edible, and if so, would it damage the algae, when he always tries to nibble on it?

Hi. As long as your Yellow Tang doesn't eat the main structure of the macro algae it will be fine. What he might try to get is the very fine growth of the algae along its branches, which you can see on our pictures of this alga. As long as he just eats this, there is nothing to worry about, in fact, this is the bonus of this macro algae :)

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to contact us.
