Halimeda Incrassata is a very nice and medium fast growing green macro algae which is non-invasive and calcified, which means it needs good calcium levels in the tank to thrive.
It has stiff, segmented flat shaped fronds which can grow up to 30 cm. and does very well in the marine aquarium substrate where it will be kept in place by rhizoids.

Whitish parts of it should be removed as they are decomposing. Out of water and in transit it might turn white, but back in the water, it will turn after a few hours back green again.

Our macro algae are from fish free macro algae tanks, although we use sometimes pictures for demonstration purposes only which will include fishes, seahorses and or corals.
We do our best to quarantine, treat and remove any unwanted hitchhikers, parasites etc from our macro algae but we can not guarantee that the algae are completely free of anything unwanted, not limited to Copepods, Rotifers etc. This is simply because that sometimes eggs, spores, etc can remain viable but not visible and hitchhikers can still stay hidden, especially in dense algae structures, despite our strict quarantine efforts.

Hi, I am a material designer working on an exciting project about the potential of algae for making new sustainable materials.
I am really interested in the types of algae that have cells that calcify such as halimeda.
I have been working with calcified seaweed meal, the plant fertiliser, which has had some really successful results. However, I am unsure about how sustainable the harvesting methods are and would like to be in control of the process from start to finish.
I would be really interested in setting up a tank to grow and harvest these minerals myself. However, I am unsure of the logistics of this or even if it would possible. Does the sound like something that you would be able to help with/provide plants etc?
Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your time, Laura
Thank you for your question.
Of course it is possible to grow them by yourself. You just need a marine tank setup with a higher than normal calcium level as recommended on our website.
Do you have already a running marine tank or are you planning a new one ?
Unfortunately we had a problem with our main Halimeda algae and had to cut back it a lot, so it would need some time before we can sell it again I am afraid.
Excellent algae pieces, prices and service. I would definitely recommend them and I have.
3 length good price more than expected
What a pretty algae ...looking forward to seeing it grow with the others
