Macroalgae for fast Nitrate & Phosphate Removal

Welcome to the beautiful world of marine macro algae for the Display Tank & Refugium
Your 1st choice for Sustainable Grown Macroalgae Species in the UK since 2014

The following macroalgae species are a great choice when it comes to Nutrients Export in the marine aquarium as they are fast growing macro algae species, like a lot of Caulerpa Algae Species & Chaetomorpha / Chaeto, which will help you to reduce the Nitrate & Phosphate in the marine aquarium in a natural way.

As they will lower the Nitrate / Phosphate whilst growing, it doesn't cause a sudden chemical swing in the marine aquarium, as it can happen with chemical Phosphate & Nitrate Remover. And as so often the best results in the marine aquarium hobby will be reached with patience and slow adjustments. This is especially recommended when sensitive corals are kept.

By removing the excessive growth of the macro algae you easily remove the nutrients out of your tank.

Of course all of our other available macroalgae species will take nutrients out of the water too, and so lower the Nitrate & Phosphate levels, but as they often grow much slower than those listed below, they will take out less Nitrate and Phosphate than the recommended species in the same time given.

On the other hand, those macro algae species are often non-invasive and therefore better qualified to use them in the marine display aquarium.

CAN ALGAE LEECH NITRATE/PHOSPHATE BACK INTO THE WATER IF NOT REGULARLY REMOVED?

Yes, they can! And therefore dying parts should be removed from the tank. Especially some Caulerpa macroalgae species should be watched closely. Please read more about them in the FAQ Caulerpa Case

All the algae we sell are from our special Algae Tanks setups which are kept without any fishes for a disease-free and premium quality. This said, they might come with hitchhikers not limited to Copepods and Rotifers, as those beneficial critters love the protected environment of our planted marine tanks.
