Chlorodesmis Sp. Green Marine Macro Algae Expand

Chlorodesmis Sp.

New

This macroalgae might be in the early growth mistaken for an unwanted type of hair microalgae, but is actually a very beautiful macroalgae addition for the marine aquarium.  It will often grow from a single holdfast and form bright green clumps.

Chlorodesmis Sp. Marine Macro Algae

Palatable
This macroalga contains a toxic substance to deter fishes from eating it, this might effect as well the growth of close corals.

Attaching
It will attach itself after a while to rock.

Trimming
Whitish parts of it should be removed as they are decomposing.

Treatment
These macroalgae prefer not too high levels of Nitrate and Phosphate and will grow better with the additional supplement of Iron, Magnesium and Trace elements. As it is a calcified macroalga a sufficient Calcium level should be maintained.r.

Hi i want an Seahorse aquarium with various macroalgae but I'm told Hippocampus erectus do better at 22c temperature so can algae survive this temp also 1.022 salinity?. Answer:
Hello. It depends on what macro algae you are looking for. Most algae species prefer a min. temperature from 23-24 C. But we kept some algae species for a while with a lower temperature ( around 21 C ) for a test and noticed that they survived, but the growth rate was much slower. We never tested our marine algae with such a low salinity so. We recommend for most species to keep a stable salinity between 1.024 to 1.026.Maybe our algae starter pack would be a good solution for you? This way you could test by yourself how they do without investing a lot of money.https://www.livealgae.co.uk/macroalgae/marine-macro-algae-starter-set/Let us know if we can help you further with this.Kind regards Livealgae UK

I have never seen this algae before. It looks really great. I glued it as recommended to a some rock and have it in my sand-bed now. It looks almost like a little lawn :)
